Welcome to the Richer Life broadcast!
If you are checking us out for the first time, I want to provide you with a quick overview of what Richer Life is all about. This podcast is about creating a Richer Life –financially and personally. While personal finance and personal development are different topics, I think they need to be discussed and focused on together. Psychology and personal development and are areas closely connected to wealth. If you become a regular listener, you might hear me talk about different forms of capital. You may notice most of my topics and conversations are focused on growth and improvement each of these five areas of capital:
These are your relationships like your friends, family, and professional network. It also represents your “extended” social network –basically, the people in your environment.
Do you have the energy to do what you need to do? This may be the most important form of capital because without this, it’s hard to get off the couch and to chase down your dreams. Topics here might include diet, nutrition, exercise, and general health.
This can also be called gusto, grit, drive, or passion. Motivation is essential to get started and to keep going.
If growing your wealth and growing yourself sounds like something you want to do, come on board!
Why do I do this Podcast?
I listen to a lot ofpodcasts myself. I love them! I also know how gratifying it is to listen to a podcast and to grow from it, think about the world differently, or start a new behavior or habit. It’s an amazing feeling and I would love to produce content that has a positive effect on others. Another reason I do this podcast is because I’m selfish. I want to continue to learn and grow too and what better way than to have conversations with cool people that have something interesting to share?
You may be wondering, “why should I listen to this guy?” My daughter asks me this every day! I’ve been in personal finance and working with clients for over 20 years. I own and manage a wealth management firm in Orange County, CA. I’ve written four personal finance books, have a column on Forbes, and have appeared as a financial expert on TV shows such as Dr. Phil, GMA, 20/20, and others. I have a master’s in financial services and am completing my PhD in financial and retirement planning. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on creating and growing assets, taxes, insurance, and retirement planning, but I can always learn more.
I have been a student of psychology since age 14. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology as well as a master’s degree in psychology. I’ve counseled individuals and have a certificate in Solution-Focused Therapy.
Of course, I don’t pretend to know it all. Far from it. I know I can learn more.
